'A pavilion nears completion'
Stratfield Mortimer, West BerkshireOne of Berkshire's earlier projects coming out of the SEEDA Small Rural Towns programme is finally taking shape. The new refurbished pavilion at Stratfield Mortimer should be complete by the end of April and hopefully being used by early May. The official opening is planned for July, most probably the 4th.
The project team has overcome several hurdles ranging from funding issues to the hibernation patterns of some local newts. Happily with respect to the former, with the commitment from SEEDA and with the help of Stephen Smyth, recently retired as Economic Development Officer at West Berkshire Council, the project has remained on track.
In the case of the latter, perhaps appreciating the community’s need for this multi use facility, the newts kept their distance!
