SE Networking, Snow in Hythe at Christmas

Hythe won the South East Region Award, as part of the National Market Town Awards, for its Christmas 2007 event in the town. During the 4 Saturdays leading up to Christmas between 2pm and 4pm 12 snow machines created a ‘blizzard’ around Hythe. This has been repeated in 2008. The Christmas lights were at the end of their life but there was virtually no money in the kitty to replace them, there was a need for an innovative project that would increase footfall in Hythe during December and in particular bring in families who are shopping online and going into the nearest city.

The young people in Romsey were involved in every aspect of creating the conference, from the administration through to operational duties on the day. GIVING YOUNG PEOPLE A VOICE This is the first time that any organisation within Romsey has spoken directly to the young people of its town at length and compiled such a comprehensive report containing their views about their town and its future.
