Kintbury
A village of around 2,700 inhabitants, Kintbury is located in the Kennet Valley, six miles west of Newbury. It has a long history dating back to Roman times and before and has an historical centre dominated by an 11th Century Church. It has seen various periods of growth through the ages with significant changes in the 1970s and 80s. It is surrounded by working countryside with the whole of the large parish being within the AONB. It has good rail and road links and has the significant benefit of the Kennet and Avon Canal passing through, bringing leisure and pleasure to residents and visitors alike.
A vibrant community with shops and a post office, it has excellent leisure facilities including for football, tennis and bowls, as well as a well equipped childrens playground, sports hall and village hall. These facilities are enhanced still further by a large number of clubs and societies covering an enormous range of activities and pastimes along with an active Volunteer Group that provides services to the community as a whole with particular emphasis on the vulnerable members of our community.
Kintbury now have an approved Parish Plan (2020 Vision) and teams and the Parish Council are working on implementation.
