Pulborough

At the natural heart of rural West Sussex, Pulborough is rich in beautiful landscape and steeped in history while offering some of the finest food and wine shopping in the area. Pulborough stands on the River Arun and has been an important settlement since ancient times. The Romans constructed many significant buildings, the Normans built a castle and other structures while, later, the railway ensured the village continued to be a centre for trade and industry. With over one hundred listed buildings and monuments, much of this history is still visible. Today, the landscape provides outstanding views across ‘The Brooks’, towards the South Downs, along with a wonderful recreational environment for walking, fishing, boating and wildlife – the RSPB bird and nature reserve is a magnet for nature lovers from across the UK. Traditional pubs, tea shops, along with a range of places to eat, make Pulborough a natural destination for visitors.

In 2002 Pulborough commenced a Healthcheck process and produced its Action Plan in 2004. This resulted in the formation of the Pulborough Community Partnership who are active in delivering that plan.
